Capital A Bhd (KL:CAPITALA) sought to reassure investors after a Singapore Supreme Court sheriff’s notice targeted assets tied to its fintech and logistics holdings. The notice covers its wholly-owned unit Move Digital Sdn Bhd’s stakes in BigPay Pte Ltd and Teleport Everywhere Pte Ltd, two subsidiaries that sit at very different points on Capital A’s value map: one a still-struggling fintech play, the other a quietly scaling up logistics business.
The group insists that the US$14.7 million claim linked to Move Digital has already been accounted for since the financial year ended Dec 31, 2024, suggesting no financial impact.
Management’s assurance that there will be “no losses”, however, hinges on a narrow interpretation of exposure. So, even if the claim is fully provisioned, a potential forced transfer or seizure of Move Digital’s 99.56% stake in BigPay and 11.45% stake in Teleport will not only settle a legal obligation but also reshape the group’s internal ownership map.
That distinction matters most for Teleport. Capital A currently holds 76.86% equity interest in the logistics business, with direct ownership of 65.41% and indirect exposure via Move Digital.
Teleport is no longer a side venture, having generated revenue of RM308.7 million in 1QFY2026 alone, roughly 40% of group turnover, outpacing even the engineering division’s RM222.2 million. Although its profitability remains thin — it made a net operating profit of RM3.1 million — the momentum is improving.
The risk, therefore, is not immediate earnings damage but structural dilution of a growth asset that has become central to Capital A’s post-aviation identity. Even a partial loss of indirect control could subtly weaken future consolidation benefits and strategic flexibility at a time when logistics is emerging as the group’s main earnings driver.
Move Digital has until June 23 to file an objection. Although that window is narrow, this step could decide whether the issue remains a small legal matter or becomes something that changes how Capital A’s growth prospects are viewed.
