KUALA LUMPUR (June 15): Pentech Holdings Bhd (KL:PENTECH) rose on Monday in the computer infrastructure firm’s first ever ACE Market trade amid broader market gains.
Shares of Pentech opened at 29 sen, compared with its initial public offering price of 20 sen, and climbed to an intra-day high of 29.5 sen.
The stock closed the day at 26 sen, up six sen or 30%, with 165.35 million shares changing hands. At the closing price, Pentech's market capitalisation stood at RM161.2 million.
Pentech also benefitted from broad market gains that came after the US and Iran reached an interim peace deal. Strong interest from retail investors, with its IPO oversubscribed more than 120 times by retail investors, also helped ensure demand for Pentech’s shares post-listing.
Based in Penang, Pentech mainly integrates enterprise information and communication technology infrastructure, supplies hardware and software, and provides cloud and other services.
The IPO raised RM34.4 million, of which 70% will be allocated towards expansion, including RM9.4 million to establish a new security operations centre, RM8.1 million to upgrade the operations command centre infrastructure, and RM6.74 million to expand its offerings.
Another RM3.5 million has been earmarked for marketing and promotional activities, RM2.16 million for working capital, while RM4.5 million will be used to defray listing expenses.
There is no accompanying offer for sale, meaning that existing shareholders are not cashing out of the computer infrastructure company under the IPO.
Public Investment Bank is the principal adviser, sponsor, sole underwriter and sole placement agent for the IPO.
