SEPANG (June 13): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) said on Saturday that a runway at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) reopened at 7.40pm after being temporarily closed due to an aircraft tyre burst incident, with flight operations returning to normal following safety clearance from aviation authorities.

In a Facebook post, the airport operator said flight operations on the affected runway had returned to normal after receiving final safety clearance from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia.

Earlier, MAHB reportedly said the temporary closure had been reflected in a Notice to Airmen, while operations at KLIA's other two runways continued uninterrupted.

The closure may have caused delays to some arriving and departing flights during the evening peak period, MAHB said, adding that it was working closely with the airline involved and relevant stakeholders to complete recovery efforts and restore normal operations safely and efficiently.

Passengers were advised to check with their airlines for the latest flight information before travelling to the airport.
