KUALA LUMPUR (June 4): A unit under the Prime Minister’s Department said parliamentary allocations will still be channelled to the Subang and Petaling Jaya constituencies despite their Members of Parliament being barred from the MyKhas portal.
The Implementation Coordination Unit said it will manage and directly channel these funds to ensure the needs of constituents continue to be met.
“The Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department will carry out its role as the coordinating agency in an orderly manner to ensure that the implementation of government programmes and initiatives proceeds smoothly, systematically, and benefits the community,” it said in a statement on Thursday.
Subang MP Wong Chen and Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung, both of PKR, have reportedly been barred from accessing constituency funds via the MyKhas portal.
Wong and Lee previously said they have yet to receive any explanation for the restriction.
The duo were among PKR MPs who attended the May 17 launch of Parti Bersama Malaysia, the new platform of former PKR senior leaders Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
Rafizi and Nik Nazmi vacated their parliamentary seats and resigned from PKR to establish their new platform.
Their parting with PKR came after the pair both failed to defend their party posts last year.
Wong, meanwhile, has said he would stand as a Bersama candidate if he were to contest in the next general election.
