KUALA LUMPUR (May 29): The YOTEL & Medical Centre project has reached its topping-out stage, marking a major construction milestone for the 23-storey integrated hospitality and healthcare development located on Jalan Raja Chulan.
The RM200 million project is owned by JD Hospitality Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Singapore-based MES Group, and is being developed in partnership with High Street Holdings.
Upon its targeted completion in November 2026, it will house Malaysia’s first YOTEL hotel alongside a medical centre.
The development is expected to offer 290 hotel rooms, together with lifestyle, wellness and integrated medical centre components.
Speaking at the topping-out and groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, JD Hospitality founder and chief executive officer Mohamed Abdul Jaleel said the development represented a significant milestone in MES Group’s regional expansion journey.
“The YOTEL & Medical Centre is not just a building, it is our promise to this community. A promise of quality healthcare. A promise of hospitality that reflects the best of what this city deserves,” said Abdul Jaleel.
He added that the medical centre component held particular significance, adding that it stemmed from a long-held ambition to create a healthcare facility focused on quality care and patient wellbeing.
Meanwhile, Sunray Construction and Interior Sdn Bhd, the main contractor of the project, said the conversion of the former Menara MIDF building into YOTEL began in July 2025 and has since progressed to the topping-out stage.
Its managing director Tony Leong added that the milestone reflected the collective efforts of developers, consultants, engineers, contractors and project partners involved in the development.
Located within Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle, the project is expected to benefit from its proximity to major landmarks including the Petronas Twin Towers, Bukit Bintang and Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, as well as nearby rail transit links.
