KUALA LUMPUR (May 29): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said on Friday it is looking into allegations involving the RM24 million upgrading of the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
In a statement, the MACC confirmed that it has received information regarding the evaluation process and implementation of the upgrade works at the national stadium. The matter is currently under review for further action.
“This includes scrutiny of relevant information and documents received,” the agency said.
The MACC stressed that it takes seriously all allegations involving corruption, abuse of power and misappropriation, particularly those concerning public interest and government procurement.
It also urged any party with relevant information to come forward to assist in the investigation, in order to ensure a comprehensive and professional review process.
Nevertheless, the agency advised those providing information on corruption, abuse of power and misappropriation cases not to disclose it to other parties to prevent leaks and avoid affecting the MACC’s follow-up actions.
Earlier, a contractor reportedly lodged a complaint with the MACC over two tenders linked to preparations for the 2027 SEA Games, including the installation of a new running track and a protective flooring system used for concerts and large-scale events.
One key issue involves the selection of China’s JRace prefabricated track system. The complainant claims that several well-known international brands also participated in the tender to supply the running track for Bukit Jalil Stadium, with some offering similar or even lower prices, but ultimately did not win the bid.
