KUALA LUMPUR (May 26): Eastern & Oriental Bhd (KL:E&O) achieved a record high annual revenue and profit for the financial year ended March 31, 2026 (FY2026), driven by robust property sales momentum and higher contributions from ongoing and newly launched developments.
The property developer’s net profit surged 31.2% to RM221.21 million in FY2026 from RM168.65 million in FY2025, as revenue climbed 17.1% to an all-time high of RM867.64 million from RM741.08 million, its Bursa Malaysia filing on Tuesday showed.
The group attributed the stronger annual performance mainly to higher revenue recognition from ongoing developments including Arica, The Lume, Fera, Senna and new launches such as Maris, Avea and Laman Embun.
The gross profit margin for FY2026 expanded to 45.8% from 41.4%, while the operating profit margin improved to 33.5% from 28.6%.
The property segment remained the largest contributor, recording revenue of RM753.87 million in FY2026, up 19.6% from RM630.54 million a year earlier, while segment profit rose 46.3% to RM279.52 million from RM191.06 million.
The group achieved record property sales of RM1.4 billion in FY2026, while unbilled sales stood at RM1.7 billion as at March 31, 2026.
The hospitality segment posted revenue of RM108.62 million, up 4% from RM104.43 million, while operating profit was broadly stable at RM25.64 million.
The record annual profit came despite its final-quarter (4QFY2026) net profit sliding 11.2% to RM62.05 million from RM69.85 million a year earlier, as revenue slipped marginally to RM235.85 million from RM236.66 million. The drop was mostly due to higher unrealised foreign exchange losses, which offset stronger property development contributions.
Managing director Kok Tuck Cheong said the group closed FY2026 with encouraging operational momentum supported by record revenue, profitability, property sales and unbilled sales.
"As we continue to advance the Andaman Island master plan and strengthen our development pipeline, our focus remains on disciplined execution, product differentiation and delivering long-term value to our stakeholders," he said in a statement.
The group plans to launch two residential projects in the coming financial year, while continuing to explore commercial development opportunities within Andaman Island.
No dividend was declared with the latest results.
At the time of writing, shares of E&O was trading one sen higher at 79 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM1.99 billion.
