KUALA LUMPUR (May 25): Malaysia’s first digital Islamic bank, AEON Bank (M) Bhd, has appointed Mohammad Ridzuan Abdul Aziz as its chief executive officer, effective May 22.
He had been serving as the officer-in-charge since April 2026 and was previously an independent non-executive director involved in AEON Bank’s digital banking development from before the operation readiness review, the bank said in a statement on Monday.
Mohammad Ridzuan succeeds YM Raja Datin Paduka Teh Maimunah Raja Abdul Aziz, who stepped down as the CEO on March 31, 2026, to lead Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd (KL:BIMB).
AEON Bank said its board is confident in Mohammad Ridzuan Abdul Aziz’s leadership and strategy, citing his diverse experience in corporate finance, risk management, cybersecurity, anti-money laundering, digital identity verification, and fintech and regulatory technology frameworks.
‘’Anchored by his robust vision for the future of digital banking, Ridzuan is set to lead the bank’s next phase of growth, accelerating its commitment to providing accessible financial solutions, while cultivating a more inclusive financial future for all,’’ AEON Bank added.
Throughout his career, Mohammad Ridzuan has held roles at Bursa Malaysia and the Securities Commission Malaysia. He currently serves with the Fintech Association of Malaysia, MARC, and several local universities. Previously, he was also a member of the government-led MIPC and an independent non-executive director of DearTime Bhd.
Officially launched on May 26, 2024, AEON Bank is equally held by AEON Credit Service (M) Bhd (KUL:AEONCR) and Japan's AEON Financial Service Co Ltd.
