KUALA LUMPUR (May 20): Sarawak Plantation Bhd (KL:SWKPLNT) posted a slight increase in first quarter net profit despite lower earnings from its oil palm operations, thanks to a higher gain from change in the fair value of biological assets.
Net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2026 (1QFY2026) rose 2.05% to RM23.09 million from RM22.63 million a year earlier, according to the group’s bourse filing on Wednesday.
A RM7.57 million fair value gain in biological assets was recognised, versus RM4.07 million in 1QFY2025.
Revenue, however, declined 22.38% year-on-year to RM105.18 million from RM135.51 million.
The group declared a first interim dividend of five sen per share, payable on July 9.
Sarawak Plantation said its oil palm segment’s operating profit before tax fell 7.95% to RM24.54 million from RM26.92 million in 1QFY2025, hit by lower sales volume of crude palm oil (CPO), coupled with lower realised average selling prices for CPO and palm kernel.
Looking ahead, the group said the CPO price outlook remains optimistic, supported by rising demand for biofuel.
Shares of Sarawak Plantation closed down three sen or 0.81% to RM3.69 on Wednesday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM1.03 billion.
