KUALA LUMPUR (May 18): Sports Toto Bhd (KL:SPTOTO) reported a 44.1% decline in third-quarter net profit as weaker earnings from its numbers forecast operations (NFO) and UK luxury car dealership business weighed on performance.
Net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2026 (3QFY2026) fell to RM59.1 million from RM105.7 million a year earlier, the group said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday. Earnings per share declined to 4.47 sen from 7.91 sen previously.
On a quarter-on-quarter basis, however, net profit rose 31% from RM45.1 million in the preceding quarter.
Revenue for 3QFY2026 dropped 20.6% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM1.52 billion, compared with RM1.91 billion.
The group declared a third interim dividend of three sen per share, amounting to RM105.6 million, for the financial year ending June 30, 2036 (FY2026), payable on July 17.
Sports Toto said the weaker quarterly performance was primarily driven by lower contributions from subsidiary STM Lottery Sdn Bhd, as the corresponding quarter last year benefited from stronger sales linked to higher accumulated jackpots for the Supreme Toto 6/58 game. The current quarter also saw fewer draws conducted — 41 versus 42 a year earlier.
Meanwhile, UK luxury vehicle retailer HR Owen plc posted a pre-tax profit of RM300,000 in 3QFY2026, sharply lower than RM17.9 million a year ago, amid weaker revenue and higher employment costs following the implementation of new UK labour regulations in April 2025.
For the cumulative nine months ended March 31, 2026 (9MFY2026), net profit declined 35.8% y-o-y to RM126.3 million, while revenue slipped 7.1% y-o-y to RM4.49 billion.
Sports Toto said it remains “cautiously optimistic” about prospects for the remainder of the financial year, citing resilient demand for its jackpot and digit-based gaming products despite geopolitical tensions and global economic uncertainty.
"Amid the ongoing geopolitical conflicts and global economic uncertainties, the group’s businesses are anticipated to continue delivering stable and positive outlook for the remaining quarter (4QFY2026)," it added.
Shares of Sports Toto closed unchanged at RM1.29 on Monday, valuing the group at RM1.7 billion. The stock has declined 4.4% year to date.
