JOHOR BAHRU (May 17): Pakatan Harapan (PH) has kicked off its convention on Sunday, bringing together delegates from across the ruling coalition as attention turns to Johor’s political landscape ahead of the next state election.
The convention, held at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre, comes amid mounting speculation over the timing of the next Johor state election, even though the current term is only set to expire by April 2027.

The gathering also coincides with growing focus on developments within PKR, particularly involving senior leaders Datuk Seri Mohd Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, both of whom are expected to make political announcements later on Sunday in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Several top PH leaders — including coalition secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, DAP secretary general Anthony Loke Siew Fook and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu — are expected to deliver speeches during the second half of the convention.
The highlight will be an address by prime minister and PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim later in the day.
