"We are immensely proud to be entrusted with introducing Hongqi to Malaysia. It is a uniquely special brand with a storied legacy, favoured by leaders and recognised globally for its uncompromising quality. With Malaysia's robust bilateral relationship with China established since 1974, it is fitting that we are chosen as one of the premier right-hand drive markets for Hongqi’s strategic expansion," Quill Group managing director Datuk Dr Jennifer Low said in a statement released on April 22.

She added that Malaysia has been identified as a premier right-hand-drive market for Hongqi’s expansion, adding that the group aims to build consumer confidence through full service after-sales service and parts availability.

FAW Group currently exports Hongqi vehicles to more than 80 countries and regions, including Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

Further details on the launch date, model lineup and dealership network will be announced in due course.
