KUALA LUMPUR (April 24): Sarawak Consolidated Industries Bhd (KL:SCIB) has secured a RM32.78 million engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract for a school project in Sabah.

In a filing with the stock exchange, the industrialised building systems player said its wholly owned subsidiary, SCIB Industrialised Building System Sdn Bhd had received a letter of award from Belian Juta Sdn Bhd for the construction of a new secondary school, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Balaban Jaya in Beluran, Sabah.

Belian Juta is principally involved in the wholesale of construction and civil engineering machinery and equipment, business management consultancy services, construction of buildings.

The project involves building 18 classrooms along with supporting facilities and is scheduled to commence on April 27, 2026, with completion targeted by Nov 29, 2027.

SCIB said the contract is expected to contribute positively to its earnings over the project duration, with revenue to be recognised progressively based on construction milestones.

In a statement, SCIB executive chairman Datuk Chong Loong Men said Sabah remains a key growth region for the group and this contract win reflect the group’s continued ability to secure and execute meaningful EPCC projects within the education infrastructure segment.

“With a strengthening pipeline of EPCC projects and a sharpened strategic focus following its ongoing corporate restructuring initiatives, SCIB is well-positioned to capitalise on emerging opportunities across both Sarawak and Sabah,” he added.

Shares of SCIB closed unchanged at 14 sen on Friday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM103 million.
