KUALA LUMPUR (April 17): K Seng Seng Corp Bhd (KL:KSSC) has proposed to change its name to EC Excel Holdings Bhd, with the new name having already been approved and reserved by the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM).
In a bourse filing, the group said the proposed change is subject to shareholder approval at an upcoming extraordinary general meeting (EGM). A circular detailing the proposal will be distributed to shareholders in due course.
If approved, the new name will take effect upon issuance of the notice of registration of new name by SSM, it added.
The rebranding follows major shareholding changes.
On April 6, Samuel Ng Heng Hong, controlling shareholder of Eurospan Holdings Bhd (KL:EUROSP), acquired a 30.1% stake in K Seng Seng from former executive chairman Datuk Keh Chuan Seng and brothers Chiau Haw Loon and Chiau Haw Yew — sons of Chin Hin Group founder Datuk Seri Chiau Beng Teik.
Following the changes, Ng is now the largest shareholder with 30.1% stake while the second largest shareholder in K Seng Seng is still Lai Sin Cheong, who holds an 18.85% equity interest.
On Friday, shares of KSSC closed unchanged at 90 sen, valuing the group at RM194.1 million. Over the past year, the counter has gained 34.8%.
