KUALA LUMPUR (April 17): Sunway Construction Group Bhd (KL:SUNCON) has secured a RM1.75 billion data centre job.
The company, via its wholly owned unit Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd, inked a construction agreement with “an international hyperscaler” on Friday for the development of a hyperscale data centre in Serendah, Selangor. The client’s identity was not disclosed in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
The scope of works includes core and shell structures, campus infrastructure, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) fit-out works.
The contract spans two years from the third quarter of 2026 to the third quarter of 2028, and is expected to contribute positively to future earnings, the company said.
The latest job win lifts Sunway Construction’s outstanding order book to RM8.7 billion, including RM3 billion worth of new projects secured so far this year.
Shares of Sunway Construction have gained more than 21% year to date, driven by a surge in data centre projects driven by demand for advanced computing and artificial intelligence applications.
At Friday’s noon break, the stock was down 14 sen or 1.99% at RM6.91, with 639,800 shares traded. At that price, the group had a market capitalisation of RM9.18 billion.
