KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Malaysia’s national oil and gas company PETRONAS said it now has enough supply for its fuel stations nationwide until the end of June, a month longer than projected earlier.

In a statement, the company officially known as Petroliam Nasional Bhd said it is actively managing its supply chain to ensure sufficient stock levels at its stations amid the ongoing global energy disruptions due to the West Asia conflict.

“PETRONAS reaffirms its commitment in ensuring stable and reliable fuel supply for all Malaysians,” the company said while urging the public to purchase fuel responsibly and to avoid hoarding or panic buying.

Malaysia, like many countries globally, is grappling with the impact from the Iran war now in its second month. Apart from attacks on oil and gas facilities, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for about one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas supply, has been disrupted due to the conflict.

PETRONAS supplies about 50% of the country’s fuel needs through its public-listed subsidiary, PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETDAG). The remainder is supplied by other oil companies operating in Malaysia.

“Responsible usage will help ensure continued accessibility for all,” the company added.
