KUALA LUMPUR (April 14): Ryt Bank, the digital bank established by YTL Group and Singapore’s Sea Ltd, said its AI chatbot users return to the app twice as often as typical users in a shift towards more intuitive banking.
The digital bank, one of five approved by Bank Negara Malaysia, has surpassed 1.2 million users since its launch in August 2025, according to its statement, with over 25 million transactions to date.
The Ryt AI platform enables customers to complete tasks such as transfers and bill payments through simple interactions, it said. This includes feature such as taking snapshot of a bill for payment, according to information from its official platforms.
The digital bank has also offered instant credit of up to RM1,499 under its Ryt PayLater feature, which it said has seen usage concentrated around essential spending rather than discretionary purchases.
“Reaching 1.2 million users in just over seven months is a significant milestone for us. More importantly, it reflects how quickly Malaysians are embracing a different way of banking, one that is simpler, more intuitive, and built around everyday needs,” said Wilson Soon, interim CEO of Ryt Bank in the statement.
““What matters most is how customers are using Ryt Bank in their daily lives, not just signing up, but coming back to spend, save and manage their money,” Soon said.
A majority of Ryt Bank’s customers come from underserved and unserved segments, it said.
“From everyday payments to short-term credit, these users are relying on Ryt Bank to better manage their financial needs, underscoring the bank’s continued delivery on its financial inclusion commitments,” the bank added.
The bank is expecting to roll out RytInvest to enable investing directly within the app in the coming weeks. The PayLater feature will also be introduced on its card in the same period, the bank added.
