KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has appointed Datuk Manoj Kurup, the former head of the prosecution division at the Attorney General’s Chambers (AGC), as the capital market regulator’s executive director of enforcement.
The appointment takes effect immediately, according to a statement on Wednesday. Manoj, who retired from government service in 2024, succeeds Budiman Lutfi Mohamed, who was appointed as a judicial commissioner last week.
“Manoj brings with him deep legal expertise and leadership to the SC,” SC chairman Datuk Mohammad Faiz Azmi said.
“His extensive experience will further strengthen our enforcement efforts as we continue to uphold market integrity and protect investors,” he added.
Aside from heading prosecution at the AGC, Manoj also held several prior roles, including head of appeals division.
He was also a member of the Malaysian prosecution team on the joint investigation of the Malaysia Airlines MH17 tragedy, the SC noted. He is also a member of the Malaysian Highway Authority.
The SC also expressed its appreciation to his predecessor, Budiman, for his services and contributions to the regulator since July 2022.
