KUALA LUMPUR (April 3): EG Industries Bhd (KL:EG) has bought another 17.51% stake in Thailand-listed ND Rubber Public Company Ltd (NDR) for 120 million baht (RM15.6 million).

The latest purchase, funded through internally generated cash, lifts EG Industries’ shareholding in NDR to 41.59%, reinforcing its expansion into energy devices, energy generation, and electric vehicle (EV) segments.

The company acquired the initial 24.08% stake in NDR in 2024 for 198 million baht (RM26.05 million).

NDR, listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, manufactures and distributes rubber components for automotive and electronics equipment, as well as motorcycle tyres, inner tubes, and airlocks globally.

For the financial year ended Dec 31, 2025, NDR posted a net profit of 21 million baht on revenue of 937 million baht.

EG Industries said the enlarged stake provides a platform to establish a 5G components testing centre in Thailand through NDR’s subsidiary, Xtronic Co Ltd, in collaboration with SMT Industries Co Ltd.

The initiative is expected to enhance the group’s capabilities in high-value testing and engineering services, supporting next-generation connectivity and mobility solutions.

NDR’s position as an approved vendor list supplier to automotive and EV manufacturers also gives EG Industries direct access to the global EV supply chain, enabling faster participation in the clean energy ecosystem.

Datuk Alex Kang, group CEO of EG Industries, said the investment strengthens its role in the energy and electrification value chain.

“NDR’s capabilities in energy devices and EV-related components complement EG’s core manufacturing strengths, enabling us to expand into higher-value segments and capture opportunities from the global shift towards sustainable energy solutions,” he said.

Shares in EG Industries closed up one sen or 0.9% at RM1.11 on Friday, valuing the company at RM1.04 billion. Over the past one year, the stock has gained 11%.
