Late February to mid-March has been a relatively quiet period, with only two new funds launched, according to the official website of the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM).

AHAM Asset Management Bhd launched its global equity fund, the AHAM World Series — Discovering New Alpha, on Feb 25. This was followed by BIMB Investment Management Bhd, which introduced its ringgit-denominated bond fund, BIMB Al-Rahwa Income, on March 9.

The slowdown is perhaps unsurprising, as both Chinese New Year and Ramadan began in February, ahead of the major celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri in late March.

As at March 16, FIMM’s website showed that 16 new funds had been launched as the first quarter of 2026 draws to a close.

By asset class, equity funds recorded the highest number of launches at seven, followed by mixed-asset funds (five) and bond funds (three). More than half of these funds invest globally.
