KUALA LUMPUR (March 11): Selangor is planning to expand its flagship business summit regionally, targeting Bandung in Indonesia as its first destination abroad.
Invest Selangor Bhd is launching SIBS@ASEAN as part of the Selangor International Business Summit 2026 event, the state government’s investment promotion agency said in a statement. Bandung was picked as the debut destination due to its economic similarities to Selangor, the agency said.
Both serve as “primary industrial hearts and innovation hubs for their respective nations, sharing a focus” on manufacturing, technology and small-and-medium enterprises, Invest Selangor said.
The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS), formerly known as the Selangor International Expo, has evolved from a boutique trade exhibition into a platform that includes conferences and forums for industries to expand into new markets in Selangor as well as in Malaysia.
This year’s edition of the annual summit will be the 10th since 2015. Since its inception, the summit has attracted thousands of visitors and speakers as well as generated transactions worth more than RM30 billion cumulatively since its inception in 2015, according to Invest Selangor.
“SIBS@ASEAN marks our next chapter,” said Invest Selangor CEO Hasan Azhari. “As regional supply chains realign, Selangor is positioning itself as a regional connector.”
The agency expects to bring about 50 Selangor-based companies to the Bandung edition that will take place from July 9 to July 10, he added.
At home, SIBS 2026 will officially incorporate the Selangor Techsphere Summit, focusing on technical talent and industrial innovation; the Selangor AI & Semiconductor Summit 2026, which will spotlight leadership in high-value digital industries; and the Selangor International Care Expo to address the expanding care economy and inclusive growth.
"By integrating high-tech manufacturing, digital innovation and the social economy into a single platform, we reflect the full spectrum of Selangor's economic strengths,” said Ng Sze Han, Selangor State Executive Councillor for Investment, Trade and Mobility.
The three new "specialised pillars” — Selangor Techsphere Summit, Selangor AI & Semiconductor Summit 2026 and Selangor International Care Expo — will join established components of the Selangor Asean Business Conference as well as the Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo. SIBS 2026 is scheduled for Oct 14 to Oct 17 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
