KUALA LUMPUR (March 4): Bukit Tambun assemblyman Goh Choon Aik from Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has been appointed as a member of the Penang State Executive Council.

Yang Dipertua Negeri of Penang Tun Ramli Ngah Talib has consented to Goh’s appointment which will take effect on March 6, according to a statement issued by the Penang Chief Minister Office on Wednesday.

He will take the oath of office at the swearing-in ceremony held at Seri Mutiara on Friday morning, the statement said.

Goh replaces Pantai Jerejak assemblyman Fahmi Zainol, who was dropped from the state’s executive council as he battles domestic abuse case in the court. Fahmi is charged with voluntarily hurting his wife Nur Hidayah Abd Jabar and he has pleaded not guilty.

Fahmi has also been suspended from all party posts since then.
