KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 26): The Dewan Rakyat on Thursday approved the Supplementary Supply (2025) Bill, authorising an additional RM7.94 billion for expenditure this year.
The Bill, tabled by Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, was passed after its third reading with majority voice support from Members of Parliament (MPs).
The supplementary allocation includes RM1.39 billion for the Treasury, RM5.29 billion for contributions to statutory funds, RM999.9 million for the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, and RM257.6 million for the Ministry of Higher Education.
Wrapping up the debate, Amir Hamzah said the RM7.94 billion forms part of an extra RM8.4 billion for operating expenditure, while the remaining RM472 million is for contingent liabilities and is not subject to debate in Parliament.
The government is also seeking an additional RM990.9 million to cover development expenditure (DE) in 2025.
Amir noted that the total supplementary allocation was fully spent in 2025 and would not affect the fiscal deficit target of 3.8% set for the year.
