
KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 24): Short selling of furniture maker Ecomate Holdings Bhd’s (KL:ECOMATE) shares was suspended for the remainder of Tuesday's session, after the stock fell more than 22% in early trade.
The stock price dropped sharply to 66 sen, levels last seen in June 2025, just before 12pm only to make an equally sharp rebound minutes later. By noon break, it was trading at 83.5 sen a share.
As at market close on Tuesday, the stock was unchanged at 85.5 sen a share with some 2.8 million shares changing hands, valuing the company at RM612.2 million.
Short selling in the stock will resume at 8.30am on Wednesday, Feb 25.
The Muar-based ready-to-assemble furniture company reported a 96% drop in net profit to RM39,000 for the nine months ended Nov 30, 2025, due to lower furniture sales in Asia (excluding Malaysia), Australasia, and Africa.
This was on 3% lower revenue of RM36.8 million for the period, compared with RM38 million the year before.
