KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 23): Pos Malaysia Bhd (KL:POS) posted a fourth-quarter net loss that was little changed from a year earlier despite higher parcel volumes and cost-efficiency initiatives, while full-year loss widened amid higher finance costs and structural declines in traditional mail.
Net loss for the quarter ended Dec 31, 2025 (4QFY2025) edged down 0.09% to RM77.09 million from RM77.16 million, as revenue rose 2% to RM467.81 million from RM458.63 million, according to the group's bourse filing on Monday. Loss per share stood at 9.85 sen, compared with 9.86 sen a year earlier.
Finance costs rose 28.3% year-on-year to RM15.98 million from RM12.45 million.
For the full year, net loss widened 3.3% to RM209.26 million from RM202.66 million in FY2024, as revenue slipped 0.74% to RM1.84 billion from RM1.85 billion.
The group did not declare any dividend for FY2025.
Finance costs for the full year rose 17.19% to RM56.82 million from RM48.48 million in the previous year.
By segment, the postal division recorded revenue of RM1.04 billion in FY2025, up 0.85% from RM1.03 billion previously, supported by higher courier and retail contributions as well as increased parcel volumes.
The aviation segment posted revenue of RM383.81 million, up 2.7% from RM373.72 million, while logistics revenue fell 15.4% to RM216.52 million from RM255.82 million, mainly due to lower marine activities arising from the prolonged downtime of a vessel undergoing dry-docking, as well as reduced volumes in the freight management, automotive logistics and vehicle sea transportation businesses due to competition and capacity constraints.
Pos Malaysia, the country’s national postal and parcel service provider with more than 11 million delivery points nationwide, said it is cautiously optimistic about delivering continued improvements in FY2026 despite challenging market and regulatory conditions.
“Innovation, sustainability, and customer-centric solutions are at the heart of our strategic direction,” group chief executive officer Charles Brewer said in a separate statement. “We are strengthening the foundations of Pos Malaysia to operate with greater agility, efficiency and resilience – ever ready to meet the needs of Malaysians today and tomorrow.”
Shares of Pos Malaysia closed up half a sen or 1.61% at 31.5 sen on Monday, for a market capitalisation of RM246.57 million. Over the past one year, the counter has gained more than 43%.
