KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 13): NexG Bhd (KL:NEXG) has appointed a new auditor after an earlier choice to replace outgoing Baker Tilly Monteiro Heng PLT, declined the appointment.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said SBY Partners PLT had decided not to proceed with the appointment, which was subject to their written consent. NexG did not provide a reason for SBY Partners' decision except to say the appointment is based on mutual consent.
Baker Tilly resigned as its external auditors on Jan 15, 2026, four months into the job citing significant changes to the company’s board composition. It was appointed at the company’s annual general meeting on Sept 24, 2025, replacing Crowe Malaysia PLT.
In place of SBY Partners, the company has appointed PKF PLT as its new auditors under the Companies Act 2016, after reviewing their independence, expertise, team, and fees.
The board of NexG is of the view that such change of auditors will enable the company and group to benefit from fresh perspectives and views of another professional audit firm.
PKF consented to act as auditors for the company in a letter dated Feb 13, 2026.
Towards the end of last year, NexG experienced a significant board shake-up following several large government contract wins.
Between September and November, several directors resigned, including executive deputy chairman Tan Sri Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman and executive director Datuk Puvanesan Subenthiran.
The board moves followed a number of corporate exercises which included a RM76.78 million purchase of a 32.61% stake and 414.3 million units of warrants Classita Holdings Bhd, at a 87.5% premium over the market price of eight sen. Classita has since been rebranded to NexG Bina Bhd (KL:NEXGBINA).
NexG’s shares slipped half a sen or 1.7% to close at 28.5 sen on Friday, valuing the company at RM994.4 million.
