iMotorbike expands to Johor and Penang

iMotorbike, the platform for buying and selling pre-owned motorcycles, has announced the opening of its Johor and Penang showrooms, marking a major milestone in the company’s in-country expansion strategy as it continues to scale its nationwide operations.

Opened in late 2025, the showrooms reflect iMotorbike’s strategic move to extend its physical footprint beyond the Klang Valley and bring its end-to-end motorcycle ecosystem closer to high-demand regional markets.

Johor anchors this expansion as a key southern growth hub. Spanning 42,452 sq ft, this showroom is designed to support both high-volume sourcing and sales, serving a diverse customer base that includes daily commuters and first-time buyers seeking reliable pre-owned motorcycles.

With nearly 90,000 vehicle trips crossing the Johor-Singapore border each day, the southern state’s link to one of Southeast Asia’s busiest land crossings underscores the strong regional mobility demand that the showroom is positioned to serve.

Complementing the Johor operations, the Penang showroom spans 26,745 sq ft, strengthening iMotorbike’s presence in the northern region. The Penang outlet supports growing demand for quality pre-owned motorcycles in an urban, high-density market where buyers increasingly value transparency, convenience and speed.

Razorpay Curlec and PayPal team up to take Malaysian SMEs global

As Malaysia’s digital exports recorded a historic RM6.8 billion surge between 2024 and the first half of 2025, the nation’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are racing to capitalise on global demand.

These SMEs, which account for 97.2% of all business establishments and employ nearly half of the country’s workforce, are the primary drivers of this export growth. Yet, while domestic digital adoption is high, many struggle to scale internationally due to the complexity of accepting foreign payments and the gaps with overseas buyers.

To bridge this gap, Razorpay Curlec, Malaysia’s leading payment gateway, is highlighting its successful integration with PayPal, the US-based global online payment system, enabling SMEs to accept cross-border payments more seamlessly through a single, unified platform.

Since its beta launch in 2025, the integration has processed tens of thousands of gross merchandise value (GMV), showcasing early adoption among Malaysian merchants seeking more efficient cross-border payment solutions.

Chinese-language money laundering networks now power 20% of global illicit flows

Recent law enforcement actions in Asia, including South Korea’s crackdown on a large-scale crypto laundering scheme operating outside traditional exchanges, highlight a growing reality for regulators: illicit crypto flows are increasingly bypassing centralised platforms altogether.

As authorities step up efforts to disrupt scam proceeds and organised financial crime, attention is shifting to decentralised laundering networks that operate openly online and adapt faster than conventional enforcement tools.

New data released in the “Money Laundering” chapter of Chainalysis’ Crypto Crime Report show how Chinese-language money laundering networks (CMLNs) have emerged as a dominant global infrastructure, accounting for about 20% of illicit crypto laundering globally and processing an estimated US$16.1 billion (RM63.27 billion) in 2025.

Since 2020, inflows to these networks have grown more than 7,000 times faster than illicit inflows to centralised exchanges, signalling a structural move towards decentralised, cross-border laundering ecosystems operating openly online. This represents an urgent and escalating challenge: CMLNs are evolving faster than enforcement can keep up. Without coordinated action to dismantle the operators and service networks, such laundering systems will likely continue to outpace global countermeasures.

Measat and Mudah Healthtech scale digital healthcare to one million rural residents

Measat Global Bhd and Mudah Healthtech Sdn Bhd have launched Sihat Xpress telehealth kiosks in Kampung Manikulau and Kampung Bonor, Sabah, bringing healthcare to the doorstep of 1,000 residents who are hours away from the nearest clinics.

Supported by Measat’s CONNECTme NOW satellite broadband, the kiosks provide self-screening tools and online doctor consultations, bridging critical healthcare gaps for remote communities. The initiative is part of a broader expansion across Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia, integrating digital clinics to reach remote communities.

Beyond basic screenings, future services being explored include artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted diagnostics, mental health and early cancer screenings, and drone medicine delivery, supporting the 13th Malaysia Plan’s goal of equitable healthcare access while reducing the impact of geographical barriers and overcrowding at physical facilities.

RED ALERT

Kaspersky advocates constant vigilance to fight suspicious activities

As technology advances, bad actors become more sophisticated as well. This does not just put organisations at risk, but the general public as well. As Chinese New Year and Hari Raya approach, cybercriminals are expected to take advantage of the festive period by deploying common payment-related scam tactics, including fraudulent QR codes and payment links circulated through festive-themed messages such as promotional vouchers and limited-time offers.

According to data from Kaspersky Security Network (KSN), more than four million web threat incidents were detected in Malaysia between January and March 2025 alone. Cybersecurity experts note that festive payment habits, marked by frequent digital transfers and QR transactions, may cause users to be less attentive to potential scam risks.

Meanwhile among enterprises, Kaspersky’s latest study shows that 99% of organisations in Asia-Pacific intend to incorporate AI into their security operations. Among them, 60% of respondents expect AI to enhance threat detection through automated data analysis to identify anomalies and suspicious activities, while 55% see AI as a key enabler of response automation, allowing faster execution of predefined incident response scenarios.

However, organisations continue to face challenges in AI implementation. Forty-four per cent of respondents cited a lack of high-quality training data as a key obstacle affecting the accuracy and relevance of AI models. At the same time, 37% reported a shortage of qualified AI experts on their internal teams, while 34% highlighted concerns about new threats and vulnerabilities emerging from AI usage.

Samsung puts privacy and security front and centre

As public security and AI become increasingly concerning elements when users use their smartphones, Samsung has taken it upon itself to strengthen its Knox Security platform to protect Samsung devices.

As agentic AI becomes more powerful, the role of established technology brands becomes increasingly important. Companies with deep experience in secure hardware, encrypted environments and long-term software support are better positioned to deploy agentic AI responsibly.

In this case, Knox Security is an example of an embedded defence-grade security platform that is built into every layer of a Samsung device. From secure chipsets to regular security updates and compliance with global standards, enterprise-grade protection is essential when AI is acting autonomously at scale.

On top of that, Samsung is set to unveil a new anti-shoulder-surfing privacy feature for Galaxy devices, developed over five years of engineering and testing. The customisable technology allows users to shield specific apps, notifications or password entries from onlookers in public spaces, with adjustable visibility levels that can be tailored to individual needs.

Building on Samsung’s decade-long Knox security platform, this hardware-software solution introduces what the company calls “pixel-level privacy protection” and will launch on Galaxy devices in the near future.

DIGITIONARY

NonHuman Identities (NHIs)

Digital identities for applications, services or devices. Organisations use these identities to execute automatic machine-to-machine operations. Digital credentials — such as application programming interface (API) keys, service accounts, OAuth tokens and certificates — are assigned to software, applications, bots and devices to authenticate and perform tasks without human intervention. As automation and cloud adoption grow, these identities outnumber human users, creating significant security risks due to excessive privileges, lack of tracking and potential exploitation by attackers.
