KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 28): BM Greentech Bhd has secured construction and supply contracts worth a total of RM71.76 million linked to a 36 megawatt-peak (MWp) solar plant with battery energy storage system (BESS) project at KLIA Aeropolis.

The biomass boiler manufacturer’s solar photovoltaic unit, Plus Xnergy Services Sdn Bhd, entered into the contracts with Cenergi Aeropolis Renewable Energy Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between units of UEM Lestra Bhd and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, according to a bourse filing on Wednesday.

The construction contract, including engineering and commission, is valued at RM42.81 million, while the supply job that covers procurement and delivery of equipment and materials, is worth RM28.95 million.

The solar plant will operate under the self-consumption (SelCo) scheme. Under SelCo, consumers cannot offset their electricity bills with the power generated; instead any surplus energy must be stored in batteries and discharged on demand for onsite use.

BM Greentech expects the contracts to contribute to its earnings from the financial year ending March 31, 2027 until the project’s completion.

Shares in BM Greentech ended four sen or 2.56% lower at RM1.52, valuing the company at RM1.05 billion.
