KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 26): Public Bank Bhd (KL:PBBANK) celebrated its 60th anniversary on Monday with a spectacular drone light show and projection mapping display at its headquarters, Menara Public Bank, commemorating six decades since the bank's founding in 1966.
In the perfectly synchronised aerial display, 600 drones illuminated the night sky, weaving together glowing tableaus of the bank’s 60-year legacy. The choreography culminated in a poignant tribute to late founder Tan Sri Dr Teh Hong Piow, before the drones seamlessly transitioned into the grand unveiling of Public Bank’s 60th-anniversary logo.
The Diamond Jubilee celebration, themed “Growth and Trust”, was officiated by Diona Teh Li Shian, daughter of the late founder. She was joined by Public Bank managing director and chief executive officer Tan Sri Dr Tay Ah Lek, along with members of the board and senior management.
“This celebration signifies that while we are rooted in tradition, we are a bank that is agile and ready to embrace the future,” Tay said in a statement.
“Our mission for the next decade is clear: to achieve greater heights, to drive sustainable growth, become the partners for the next generation of entrepreneurs, and continue setting the benchmark for banking stability and excellence in the region,” Tay added.
As Public Bank looks beyond its Diamond Jubilee, the bank noted that the celebration represents a new beginning and not a pinnacle.
Public bank said it remains committed to evolving into a more agile, digitally empowered organisation, focusing on enhancing user experiences while preserving the personal trust that has been its hallmark for 60 years.
“By harmonising innovation with integrity, Public Bank reaffirms its promise to remain a trusted financial partner for all Malaysians, shaping a more prosperous and resilient future for generations to come,” the bank said.
Over the past six decades, Public Bank has grown from a local banking institution into one of Southeast Asia’s strongest financial institutions. Known for its prudent stewardship and customer-first philosophy, the bank continues to set industry benchmarks in stability, profitability and innovation.
As part of the anniversary celebration, Public Bank launched a campaign to mark the milestone, offering prizes and cash rewards.
Under the campaign, customers stand to win an array of prizes, including 60 units of Proton e.MAS 7, three units of luxury electric vehicles as the Grand Prize, 6,000 units of limited edition PB Smart Watch, and over RM2.6 million worth of cash rewards.
