KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 25): BRDB Developments Sdn Bhd will unveil its latest development — Eden Taman Duta — in the first quarter of this year. This high-end development has a gross development value of RM1.52 billion with 146 units ranging in sizes from 5,296 to 19,041 sq ft, of which 22 are double-storey penthouses. Group CEO Christopher Manivannan, together with co-deputy CEOs Yasmin Khan and Nazim Khan, speak to City & Country about what makes this project special. 

Highlights of the Rehda Institute’s CEO Series 2026 event titled “Reinventing Growth: Innovation and Investment Opportunities in Asean & Malaysia” are also in this issue. In the column, The Real Deal, editor emeritus at The Edge Malaysia, Au Foong Yee expresses her views on the importance of knowing the responsibilities of living in a strata property. At the same time, developers need to also play a part to inculcate a harmonious living environment. She says that ultimately, strata living offers convenience, security and shared amenities — but only when residents understand their responsibilities and play their part. And responsible developers must never just sell stratified property and walk away. 

In the MySpace column, Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) president Oliver Wee expects the construction industry to perform steadily as Malaysia enters the first year of the 13th Malaysia Plan. Under the plan, about RM430 billion has been allocated for development expenditure from 2026 to 2030, averaging RM86 billion per year, indicating sustained infrastructure and building activity.

Last but not least, City & Country Singapore has a story on the Chinese Real Estate Investment Trust (C-REIT) market and how it won’t overtake the US REIT market any time soon, according to Joachim Kehr, Asia-Pacific head at CenterSquare Investment Management.
