KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 16): Offshore marine services provider Sealink International Bhd said on Friday that its managing director Yong Kiam Sam has resigned for personal reasons, while the company has appointed a new chief operating officer (COO).

Kiam Sam, 56, is the son of Sealink founder Yong Foh Choi and assumed the managing director role in May 2018 following his father’s retirement. He previously worked as a senior consultant at Ernst & Young Consultants in Singapore and as an accounts executive at Lambir Myanmar Investments Ltd.

Sealink’s largest shareholder is executive chairman Lo Ling who has been building up his stake in the company and raised his stake to 20.29% as of Jan 9. Kiam Sam holds a direct 13.92% stake in the company, while Foh Choi owns 9.14%.

In a separate filing to Bursa Malaysia, Sealink said it had appointed Ung Toh Kiew, 69, as COO. Ung has more than 30 years of experience in senior financial and management roles, having served as chief financial officer at the Trivilion Group of companies.

He has also held senior positions at Lambang Sinar Mas Sdn Bhd, PPES Works Sdn Bhd, Sarawak Securities and the WTK Group of Companies. He first began his career with Ernst & Young in Malaysia and Singapore.

For the nine months ended Sept 30, 2025, Sealink posted a net loss of RM6.97 million on revenue of RM134.7 million, compared with a net profit of RM25.66 million on revenue of RM104.42 million a year earlier.

Sealink shares closed unchanged at 37 sen on Friday, valuing the company at RM185 million. The stock has risen 19.35% over the past year.
