KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 14): Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd (MAM) has launched the MAMG Growth and Income-I Fund that aims to deliver 7% annual return to investors.

It also seeks to generate consistent income streams across market cycles by delivering an income distribution of 6% to 6.5% per annum by investing in emerging market debt and sukuk.

The shariah-compliant, global and multi-asset feeder fund will channel investments into the Schroder Maybank Growth and Income-I Fund in Singapore, which is the target fund.

A minimum of 90% of the fund’s net asset value (NAV) will be invested in the target fund while up to 10% of the fund’s NAV will be invested in Islamic liquid assets, comprising Islamic deposits with financial institutions and Islamic money market instruments.

The fund targets investors looking for opportunities locally and abroad and is offered exclusively to Maybank’s regional clients.

The fund is also offered across multiple share classes, including ringgit, ringgit hedged and US dollar, each with both accumulation and distribution classes available.

The minimum initial investment amount is RM1,000 or US$1,000 (RM4,050.50) for different share classes, while the minimum additional investment amount is RM100 or US$100.

The fees include a sales charge of up to 5% of the NAV per unit and an annual management fee of up to 1% per annum.

According to its press release, the launch of the MAMG Growth and Income-I Fund is a part of the signature Maybank chief investment officer or CIO-powered franchise.

MAM chief executive officer Muhammad Hishamudin Hamzah noted that the milestone achieved by its CIO-powered strategies reflects the strength of the MAMG’s collaborative model and the firm’s focus on performance-led outcomes.

“The momentum of our CIO-powered suite is a testament to the clarity and discipline of our investment house view. In an era of heightened policy uncertainties, there is an imperative for strategies that offer both sophisticated oversight and tactical agility,” he said.

Katherine Cox, head of client group, South Asia, and Global Official Institutions at Schroders, said the firm is delighted to deepen its partnership with MAM through the launch of the fund.

“Leveraging our global multi-asset capabilities and shariah investment expertise, we have developed an actively managed solution designed to manage volatility and identify growth opportunities. We are confident this new offering will empower investors in Malaysia to invest with greater assurance and capitalise on opportunities across market cycles,” she said.

Schroders is a global investment manager which provides active asset management, wealth management and investment solutions, with an asset under management of US$1.06 trillion, as at June 30, 2025.
