KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 24): Borneo Oil Bhd (KL:BORNOIL) announced that its US-based associate company Verde Resources Inc is making its way to the Nasdaq stock exchange.

Verde filed a registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday, Dec 23, for a public offering to raise between US$5 million and US$8 million, or about RM20 million to RM33 million, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

Proceeds of the offering will go into scaling its production and distribution of its renewable energy technology, expanding its presence in new markets in other countries, and enhancing its research and development for national security and defence-related applications, Borneo Oil said.

Borneo Oil holds a 13.45% stake in Verde, a company specialising in environmentally sustainable products and technologies.

Based in Missouri, Verde is currently listed on the OTCQB, an over-the-counter market designed for smaller or early-stage companies that are not listed on the Nasdaq or the New York Stock Exchange.

Shares of Borneo Oil were unchanged at half a sen at Wednesday’s midday break, valuing the group at RM75.9 million ahead of the announcement.
