KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 19): MyNews Holdings Bhd (KL:MYNEWS) said it will press ahead with an "aggressive retail expansion strategy" aligning with Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026), which is expected to boost convenience store footfall.

The group reported a 40.1% rise in net profit for the fourth quarter ended Oct 31, 2025 (4QFY2025), driven by higher sales and improved margins.

The convenience store chain said it is committed to "enhancing economies of scale across its convenience retail ecosystem”, which will improve margins and earnings, according to its bourse filing.

Convenience stores are often treated by tourists as an accessible way to experience local flavours, positioning the group to capture demand during VM2026, it added.

As of end-October, MyNews operated more than 709 outlets across its brands. “This diversified and expanding footprint enables MyNews Group to capture a wider range of consumer segments while supporting volume-driven efficiencies across procurement, distribution, and operations within its food production hub,” it said.

In 4QFY2025, net profit rose to RM5.27 million from RM3.76 million a year earlier, as revenue climbed 10.2% to RM229.66 million from RM208.44 million, supported by stronger in-store sales and the opening of 64 new outlets.

Gross profit increased 10.8% year-on-year to RM88.35 million, with margins edging up to 38.5% from 38.3% on a more favourable sales mix.

No dividends were declared.

For the full year, net profit surged 90.2% to RM17.84 million from RM9.38 million, while revenue grew 9.3% to RM879.04 million from RM804.2 million.

Shares in MyNews closed up one sen or 1.8% at 56 sen on Friday, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM420.2 million. Year to date, the stock has fallen 17%.
