KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 15): TH Plantations Bhd (KL:THPLANT), the plantation arm of Lembaga Tabung Haji, has appointed Md Zaini Md Zakaria as its new chief financial officer (CFO) with immediate effect.

In a bourse filing on Monday (Dec 15), the group said Md Zaini was formerly the CFO of Censof Holdings Bhd (KL:CENSOF), a role he held from 2022 until mid-November this year. Prior to that, he served as group CFO of the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) from 2011 to 2022.

His earlier roles include financial controller at Pantai Holdings Bhd and Sapura Resources Bhd (KL:SAPRES), senior finance manager at Scomi Rail Bhd and finance manager at Ranhill Utilities Bhd (KL:RANHILL), the filing showed.

Md Zaini replaces Marliyana Omar, who resigned as CFO in July after receiving a show-cause letter over alleged unauthorised payments totalling RM5.1 million to plantation workers. The letter was also issued to former CEO Mohamed Zainurin Mohamed Zain.

TH Plantations sacked Mohamed Zainurin in August and, in November, appointed industry veteran Datuk Borhan Bachi — formerly head of the plantation division at FGV Holdings Bhd — as its new CEO.

Shares of TH Plantations rose one sen or 1.85% to close at 55 sen on Monday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM486.12 million. Year-to-date, the counter has fallen over 19%.
