KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 12): The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has launched a public consultation to gather feedback for its review of the country’s corporate governance framework, ahead of the rollout of the Capital Market Master Plan 4.

SC on Friday released a discussion paper outlining proposed enhancements aimed at strengthening board roles, improving long-term value creation and boosting overall board effectiveness. 

The consultation is open from Dec 12, 2025 to Feb 6, 2026, it said in a statement. 

Key focus areas include behavioural shifts at leadership levels, greater agility in managing emerging risks and technology adoption, continual improvements in board composition and independence, and deeper stakeholder engagement through better access to information.

Separately, input gathered will shape the forthcoming revision of the Malaysian Code on Corporate Governance and related guidelines to ensure Malaysia’s framework remains relevant and aligned with global standards.

Stakeholders — including listed companies, investors and industry bodies — are invited to submit feedback.
