KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 11): Malaysia's stock exchange capped the year with the most number of listings in two decades and dozens of companies in the queue list for 2026.

Bursa Malaysia hosted 60 initial public offerings (IPOs) in a year marked by global market turmoil, trade tensions, and economic uncertainties — an achievement that reinforces the exchange’s position as one of Asean's most active for IPOs, its chief executive officer Datuk Fad’l Mohamed said on Thursday.

“We reached our target and surpassed last year's total number of IPOs,” he said after the listing ceremony of renewable-energy machinery provider Wasco Greenergy Bhd (KL:GENERGY).

Of the 60 IPOs this year, 11 were on the Main Market, 44 on the ACE Market and five on the LEAP Market. By comparison, 2024 saw 55 listings.

The 60 listings in 2025 are estimated to have collectively raised RM5.5 billion in IPO proceeds.

Bursa Malaysia could also list more than 60 companies next year, Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan said on Tuesday, though he called on the exchange to prioritise larger-capitalised IPOs in 2026 to deepen the Main Market’s depth and international appeal.

Homegrown chip-design firm SkyeChip Bhd, hospital operator Sunway Healthcare Holdings Bhd, and Empire Premium Food Bhd, operator of the fast-growing Empire Sushi retail chain, are among the companies that have filed for IPOs on the Main Market.

RT Pastry Holdings Bhd, which owns the eponymous popular bakery chain, and Semico Capital Bhd, which supplies video game arcade machines and distributes toys, are seeking listing on the ACE Market.

“Retail-centric companies with strong consumer visibility should attract healthy investor interest next year, especially as sentiment improves,” said Rakuten Trade head of equity sales Vincent Lau. “Quality technology names will remain in favour given Malaysia’s position in the electrical and electronics supply chain.”

IPOs in 2025 have a mixed bag of successes and failures. THMY Holdings Bhd (KL:THMY), a Penang-based testing systems firm, nearly tripled on its ACE Market debut while specialty chemicals manufacturer SumiSaujana Group Bhd (KL:SUMI) lost 25% of its value on the first day of listing.

Wasco Greenergy, the final IPO launched in 2025, opened 5% lower than its listing price.
