KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 5): A member of Parliament was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) in Kedah on Thursday evening after prosecutors approved charges in a case involving a state government cattle-farming joint venture, according to sources familiar with the investigation.

The probe, which began in February this year, centres on claims that the MP received about RM400,000 in exchange for facilitating land-use rights for the feedlot project.

An investigation paper was opened after a complaint was lodged on Feb 10, 2025, with statements recorded from 15 witnesses.

MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, when contacted, confirmed the arrest. He said the MP’s statement was recorded under Section 53(3) of the MACC Act 2009 before the individual was released on bail pending further action.
