KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 4): FTSE Russell and Bursa Malaysia Bhd (KL:BURSA) said there will be no changes to the constituents of the FBM KLCI following the latest semi-annual review of the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Series.

The review, however, resulted in six constituent changes to the Mid 70 Index and four changes to the Hijrah Shariah Index, according to a joint statement on Thursday.

The Mid 70 Index, which comprises the next 70 companies in the EMAS Index by full market capitalisation, will see the inclusion of Eco-Shop Marketing Bhd (KL:ECOSHOP), Hap Seng Consolidated Bhd (KL:HAPSENG), Hong Leong Industries Bhd (KL:HLIND), Kelington Group Bhd (KL:KGB), KSL Holdings Bhd (KL:KSL) and Mi Technovation Bhd (KL:MI).

The six companies being removed from the Mid 70 are Bumi Armada Bhd (KL:ARMADA), Chin Hin Group Bhd (KL:CHINHIN), Dayang Enterprise Holdings Bhd (KL:DAYANG), Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd (KL:F&N), RCE Capital Bhd (KL:RCECAP) and VS Industry Bhd (KL:VS).

FTSE Russell said the KLCI’s composition remains unchanged, with the benchmark continuing to represent the 30 largest companies on Bursa by full market capitalisation.

The KLCI is widely used as the primary indicator of the Malaysian equity market and is the underlying benchmark for derivatives such as the KLCI Futures (FKLI) and the KLCI Options (OKLI), as well as several index-linked financial products including exchange-traded funds.

The reserve list — comprising the five largest non-constituents by market capitalisation — will now consists of Genting Bhd (KL:GENTING), Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM), IOI Properties Group Bhd (KL:IOIPG), United Plantations Bhd (KL:UTDPLT) and Westports Holdings Bhd (KL:WPRTS). Companies on the reserve list may enter the benchmark if any constituent is removed before the next index review.

The FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Series is reviewed semi-annually in June and December in accordance with index ground rules. The next review is scheduled for June 2026.

As for the Hijrah Shariah Index, which tracks the 30 largest shariah-compliant companies in the EMAS Index, it will see Eco-Shop Marketing, Frontken Corp Bhd (KL:FRONTKN), Malayan Cement Bhd (KL:MCEMENT) and ViTrox Corp Bhd (KL:VITROX) coming in as constituents.

They will replace F&N, Hartalega Holdings Bhd (KL:HARTA), PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETDAG) and Top Glove Corp Bhd (KL:TOPGLOV).
