GEORGE TOWN: Texchem Resources Bhd (KL:TEXCHEM) plans to invest RM93.5 million over 2025 and 2026 to expand its polymer engineering and restaurant (Sushi King) divisions, as part of its goal to double revenue by 2029.

For the first nine months (9MFY2025) of its financial year ending Dec 31, 2025, the group’s net profit jumped sixfold to RM4.1 million, even though revenue was slightly lower at RM842.4 million compared with the same period last year.

Group chief executive officer Dr Yuma Konishi told The Edge that RM85 million will be used to increase the polymer engineering division’s production capacity by 20%–30%, while the rest will support a 10% expansion of Sushi King’s 122 outlets.

Konishi said every division has a clear strategy under the company’s five-year plan running from 2025 until 2029.

The polymer engineering segment — which supplies automation-assisted transport equipment to industries such as artificial intelligence (AI) data storage, semiconductors, electronics, telecommunications and medical life sciences — will be the main growth driver.

He noted solid growth prospects over the next two to three years, and plans to develop new solutions for the medical and life sciences sectors.

For Sushi King, plans include brand refreshing, optimising store locations, cost management, and adapting to consumer trends. Thirteen outlets were opened or relocated in FY2025, with new stores showing better margins.

Texchem’s shares were unchanged at 72 sen at noon break on Friday, valuing the company at RM93.81 million. The stock is down almost 6% this year.
