Notable filings

On Nov 6, Tan Sri Chan Kong Choy’s interest in FBG Holdings Bhd (KL:FBG) rose to 11.3% after Infinite Horizons Capital Sdn Bhd acquired 19.6 million shares representing 2.64% of the share base of the construction outfit through a married deal.

The shares were acquired at 18.5 sen apiece, which was at the high end of FBG’s traded price range that day. Infinite Horizons is controlled by Chan and his family, including his wife Puan Sri Lai Yoke Lan and children Chan Kaixuan, Chan Jiaxiang and Chan Jiaheng.

Chan, who is also FBG’s group executive chairman, is currently its second largest shareholder, after the estate of the late Tan Sri Ta Kin Yan, which holds 12.38% of the shares.

FBG’s net profit for the financial year ended June 30, 2025 fell to RM7 million from RM54 million in the preceding fiscal year, as lower contributions from property projects that are nearing completion impacted earnings.

Over at JAG Bhd (KL:JAG), its largest shareholder, Datuk Ng Aik Kee, acquired 25 million shares or a 3.55% stake via crossing deals on Nov 3, which increased his shareholding to a total of 30.62%.

The block was acquired at RM5 million, or 20 sen apiece, at a discount of between 8.5% and 9.5% to the price range of JAG’s shares traded on that day. The acquisition increased Ng’s total shareholding to 30.62%.

The company has been in the red so far this year, reporting a net loss of RM8.83 million in the first half ended June 30, 2025, compared with a net profit of RM4.81 million in the corresponding period last year.

Meanwhile, construction outfit SC Estate Builder Bhd (KL:SCBUILD), which is diversifying into renewable energy, saw its group managing director/CEO and chairman Loh Boon Ginn acquiring 25 million shares or 0.47% of the group’s share base on Nov 3, increasing his stake in the group to 4.83%.

This came about a month after Loh ceased being a substantial shareholder of the group following the dilution of his stake to 4.36% from 5.67% in August. This happened after SC Estate Builder placed out one billion shares to Fortune Frontline Sdn Bhd, resulting in the emergence of the latter as its second largest shareholder with an 18.8% stake.

In total, SC Estate Builder placed out 1.23 billion shares representing 30% of its share base on Oct 2, at 0.43 sen apiece, to raise funds for the development of a 4MWac solar power plant in Arau, Perlis, which is expected to cost the group RM15 million.

Notable movements

On Oct 22, Perak Transit Bhd’s (KL:PTRANS) share price plunged 47.2% to 33.5 sen, triggering an unusual market activity (UMA) query from Bursa Malaysia. However, its board of directors said it is not aware of any possible explanation that could account for the UMA.

Though the stock bounced back and reached 41 sen on Oct 29, it slumped again after that, touching 26.5 sen on Nov 6 — a decline of 33.75% over seven trading days. As at last Tuesday, Perak Transit was trading at 28.5 sen, valuing the group at RM343.2 million.

In the meantime, its managing director and largest shareholder Datuk Seri Cheong Kong Fitt has been actively trading the group’s shares. On Nov 6, he sold 10.45 million shares or 0.87% of the group’s share base.

Meanwhile, Cypark Resources Bhd’s (KL:CYPARK) share price has continued on its downward trend, which started in July. Last Tuesday, the owner and operator of Malaysia’s first waste-to-energy plant was trading at 70 sen per share, 27% lower than its closing price of 96 sen on July 4.

The counter, however, saw a brief recovery between Nov 3 and 6, when its share price rebounded from a low of 68 sen to a high of 73 sen, translating into a gain of 7.35% from trough to peak.

On Oct 31, Chung Dao disposed of 15 million shares or 1.82% of Cypark’s share base via an off-market deal, reducing his stake to 5.4%. The shares were likely sold to Chung Chee Yang, as he acquired 15 million shares on the same day, increasing his stake to almost 7%.
