KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 14): Engineering and construction outfit Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd (KL:AZRB) has dropped its plan to raise about RM14.7 million through a private placement originally intended to fund working capital needs.

The company had until Nov 14 to execute the placement after securing an extension of time, but the board has now decided not to proceed, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Friday.

AZRB first proposed the fundraising on Nov 1, 2024, aiming to place out up to 10% of its issued shares to third-party investors at a price to be fixed later. Proceeds were earmarked for building materials and payments to subcontractors and suppliers involved in several projects, including the East Klang Valley Expressway, Masjid Bandaraya Kuantan and the Jalan Pintasan Cameron Highlands.

AZRB shares ended half a sen or 2.63% lower at 18.5 sen on Friday, valuing the company at RM118.6 million. The stock has fallen 19.6% year to date.
