KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 7): Bursa Securities has reprimanded and fined a former executive director of Scanwolf Corp Bhd (KL:SCNWOLF) for misrepresenting himself as a “Dato” in the plastic extrusion maker’s annual reports.

The bourse regulator said it fined Cheong Chen Khan RM30,000 for submitting or causing Scanwolf to submit inaccurate and false documents that misrepresented him as a recipient of the honorific title. This title was subsequently included in the company’s annual reports for 2022, 2023 and 2024, Bursa said in a statement on Friday.

Bursa cited a breach of its rules for the decision, stating: “Paragraphs 2.18(1)(a) and (c) of the Main Market Listing Requirements (Main MLR) state that the director of a listed issuer must ensure that any statement, information or document presented, submitted or disclosed pursuant to the Main LR is clear, unambiguous, accurate and is not false or misleading."

Bursa said it views the breach seriously, adding all directors must maintain the highest standards of integrity, accountability, corporate governance and responsibility.

Scanwolf had listed Cheong as “Dato' Cheong Chen Khan” in various sections, including the directors’ profile of the company’s annual reports for 2022, 2023 and 2024, the regulator noted.

Cheong resigned as an executive director of Scanwolf on Oct 1 this year, due to "other commitments". He joined the board in 2021.

Scanwolf shares were last traded at 48.5 sen on Thursday, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM102.89 million.
