KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 7): Sedania As Salam Capital, a subsidiary of Sedania Innovator Bhd (KL:SEDANIA), has disbursed nearly RM2 billion in shariah-compliant financing under its GoHalal Financing Programme for the gig economy.

The GoHalal initiative provides embedded, shariah-compliant microfinancing through digital platform partnerships.

Malaysia’s gig workforce has surged in recent years, driven by ride-hailing, delivery and freelance services, and is now exceeding three million strong.

Authorities estimate gig workers now make up nearly one-fifth of the labour force, highlighting the need for sustainable financial access for informal earners.

In a statement, chief executive officer of Sedania As Salam Capital, Khairul Nisa Ismail said the financing programme “redefines access to capital for the underserved, guided by shariah values and powered by technology”.

GoHalal runs on Sedania’s proprietary As-Sidq Tawarruq platform, which automates real-time transactions and uniquely uses airtime as an underlying digital commodity for 24-hour operations.

Sedania’s governance framework, chaired by Professor Datuk Dr Aznan Hasan, ensures transparency and compliance. The company also won the “IFN Best Islamic Technology Provider 2025” award.

Founder and group managing director Datuk Azrin Mohd Noor said GoHalal enables responsible financing for Malaysians who often force income volatility between demand cycles, aligning with Bank Negara Malaysia’s financial inclusion agenda to improve access to credit for self-employed segments.

With robust digital infrastructure and growing institutional adoption, Sedania As Salam Capital plans to expand GoHalal across Southeast Asia, aligning faith, finance, and technology to drive long-term inclusive growth.
