KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 16): NexG Bhd (KL:NEXG) secured its fourth government contract in less than two months, this time an extension worth RM12.18 million for a contract from the Road Transport Department.

Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd, its wholly-owned subsidiary, will be supplying consumables used in printing surplus driving licence cards and the extension runs for 26 months from Sept 1, 2025 to Oct 31, 2027, according to an exchange filing. The value for the contract now totals RM33.7 million.

The original contract, awarded in October 2024 by the department also known by its Malay acronym JPJ, covers the supply and printing of special category driving licence cards over 36 months ending Oct 31, 2027.

Under the revised terms, Datasonic Technologies will furnish an additional performance bond of RM203,025.99, valid until Oct 31, 2028.

The latest win comes on the heels of an 18-month contract extension from the Immigration Department for the supply of foreign worker cards. The contract value was not disclosed in the Tuesday announcement.

Earlier this month, NexG announced a six-year contract valued at RM732.72 million from the Ministry of Home Affairs to supply national identity cards, including MyKad and MyTentera.

In August, the company said its unit Datasonic Technologies was awarded a six-year contract worth RM1.73 billion by the Ministry of Home Affairs for the supply of Malaysian passports.

At the time of writing, NexG shares were unchanged at 45 sen, valuing the group at RM1.67 billion.
