
KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 13): Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd (BPMB) group banks will roll out RM9 billion in new financing under Budget 2026 to support high-impact sectors, boost micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) growth and exports.
The bulk of the financing will be for high-impact sectors under BPMB with about RM3 billion to finance public infrastructure and social projects, RM1 billion to revitalise cities and tourism and RM500 million to grow Malaysia’s role in the global semiconductor industry.
In a statement, BPMB said these are in addition to over RM2 billion financing for areas like transport, renewable energy, digital infrastructure and Bumiputera development.
Another unit under the group, SME Bank, will provide:
EXIM Bank will support exporters with RM500 million to help manage costs and expand internationally, plus RM5 million for takaful protection against commercial and political risks in markets like Africa, Central Asia, Asean and OIC countries. This is in partnership with the Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit under the Islamic Development Bank.
BPMB said these initiatives support Budget 2026’s focus on fiscal discipline, reforms and inclusive, sustainable growth.
The BPMB group includes BPMB, Pembangunan Leasing Corporation Sdn Bhd, BPMB Dana Sdn Bhd, EXIM Bank and SME Bank.
