
KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 13): Trading in shares of Genting Malaysia Bhd (KL:GENM) and Genting Bhd (KL:GENTING) has been suspended from 9am to 5pm on Monday, pending a material announcement, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
In the filing on Monday (Oct 13), both Genting Malaysia and Genting said their structured warrants will also be suspended at the same time.
Genting Malaysia was last traded on Friday (Oct 10) at RM2.14, while Genting settled at RM2.86.
In August this year, Genting Malaysia announced a restructuring of its US unit Empire Resorts Inc, with a RM2.2 billion sale of its non-casino properties, land purchase and lease, and full bond repayment to address earning pressures at the struggling company.
Empire Resorts and Sullivan County Resort Facilities Local Development Corporation were to finalise terms for the sale, lease and management agreements.
Genting Malaysia’s net profit more than tripled year-on-year to RM489.33 million in the first half of the financial year ended June 30, 2025 (1HFY2025), from RM140.02 million, as revenue rose to RM5.51 billion, from RM5.43 billion.
Genting, meanwhile, recorded a sharp 70.1% fall in net profit to RM248.12 million in 1HFY2025 from RM828.52 million in 1HFY2024.
