KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 9): YTL Communications, via its Yes brand, has become the first telecommunications company in Malaysia to commercially launch 5G Advanced, with coverage already live in the Klang Valley and full nationwide roll-out expected by December 2025.
Launched at the Yes Presents: The Future First Tech-Talk event, Yes 5G Advanced is said to offer faster speeds, better coverage, artificial intelligence (AI)-ready connectivity, and network slicing for prioritised, stable connections — a first in Malaysia.
“This is more than a network upgrade; it’s a game changer. With 5G Advanced, Malaysians can enjoy broader and deeper 5G coverage nationwide and a high-performance wireless network the country has not seen before. It’s the foundation for an uncapped, inclusive and AI-ready society that Malaysians deserve,” said YTL Communications chief executive officer Wing K Lee in a statement on Thursday.
Yes became the ninth operator globally to launch 5G Advanced, powered by Digital Nasional Bhd’s (DNB) Ericsson-built network.

- Strong coverage indoors and outdoors using 700MHz & 3500MHz spectrum
- Ultra-low latency and high speeds for smooth streaming, gaming, and critical use
- AI-ready network slicing for stable, high-quality connections
- Free automatic upgrade for all Yes 5G postpaid and broadband users
