KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 2): Cape EMS Bhd (KL:CEB) is partnering with Perak Transit Bhd (KL:PTRANS) to develop smart infrastructure and renewable energy projects in Perak, including smart bus stops and an electric vehicle (EV) hub in Ipoh.

The collaboration was formalised through a memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed on Thursday, which sets the stage for joint planning and execution of large-scale infrastructure and energy projects aimed at modernising public transport nodes and advancing clean energy adoption in the state.

Under the MOA, Cape EMS will serve as the strategic service provider across project sites owned or managed by Perak Transit or its subsidiaries. The group will oversee delivery, installation, engineering works, testing and commissioning of systems, as well as preventive maintenance. It will also support regulatory approvals and licensing matters.

“We are pleased to join forces with Perak Transit on a progressive collaboration that places sustainability, innovation, and mobility at the heart of public infrastructure,” Cape EMS said in a statement.

The group said the collaboration with Perak Transit reflects its growing momentum in “delivering high-impact renewable energy and smart city solutions” as part of a broader expansion strategy.

The collaboration builds on Cape EMS’ recent efforts to expand its renewable energy portfolio. Last month, the group inked a strategic cooperation agreement with Shanghai-based Sermatec Energy Technology Co Ltd to assemble and manage battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Malaysia for the Asean market.

Through its subsidiary Cape Renewables Sdn Bhd, the group is also localising monitoring and management of battery management systems (BMS) and energy management systems (EMS) to improve system efficiency and technical support.

Cape EMS has also diversified into the aerospace parts manufacturing sector via a partnership with Taiwan’s Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC). The move is aimed at tapping into the global aerospace supply chain while pursuing next-generation renewable energy solutions such as microgrids for rural communities.

Perak Transit, meanwhile, is the operator of integrated public transportation terminals such as Terminal Meru Raya in Ipoh, which serves as a hub for interstate and intrastate buses. The company has been expanding its portfolio to include property development and renewable energy ventures.

Shares in Cape EMS closed unchanged at 30 sen on Thursday, giving it a market capitalisation of RM297.6 million, while Perak Transit also ended unchanged at 67 sen, valuing the company at RM805.2 million.
