KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 1): Public Bank Bhd (KL:PBBANK) has launched a RM10 billion commercial paper programme to help raise short-term funds over the next seven years.

The bank in a filing with the stock exchange said it submitted the necessary documents to the Securities Commission Malaysia on Wednesday, Oct 1, through Public Investment Bank Bhd (PIVB), using the regulator’s Lodge and Launch Framework for quicker approval.

This programme allows Public Bank to issue short-term debt (commercial papers) as needed, rather than all at once.

RAM Ratings has given the programme a P1 rating, the highest short-term rating, showing strong confidence in the bank’s ability to repay.

PIVB will act as the adviser, arranger, and manager of the programme.

Public Bank’s share price closed 0.69% higher at RM4.36 on Wednesday, valuing the country’s third largest bank by assets at RM84.63 billion. Year to date, the stock is down 3.96%.
